Mission to Live Foundation is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scholarships that enable veterans and first responders to access medically supervised, psychedelic-assisted therapy. We are deeply grateful to the donors, foundations, and supporters whose generosity makes this mission possible.

We recognize that donor privacy is a cornerstone of the trust you place in us. This Donor Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, protect, and — when appropriate — share information about our donors. It applies to all donors, prospective donors, and supporters who interact with Mission to Live Foundation through our website, events, direct communications, or any other channel.

Mission to Live Foundation is committed to full compliance with applicable federal and state laws governing nonprofit organizations and donor information, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) where applicable, and we follow best practices established by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the National Council of Nonprofits, and GuideStar/Candid.

  • Referral information when a board member, ambassador, or existing donor introduces us to a prospective donor

How We Use Donor Information

We use donor information solely to further our charitable mission and maintain the relationship between Mission to Live Foundation and our supporters. Specifically, we use your information to:

  • Communicate with you about our programs, scholarship recipients, research outcomes, and organizational news

What We Will Not Do With Your Information

Mission to Live Foundation will NEVER:

  • Use your information for commercial marketing or advertising purposes
  • Disclose your giving history, donation amounts, or philanthropic interests to other donors or the general public without your permission

  • Retain your payment card information — all transactions are processed by our secure, PCI-compliant payment processor and we do not store card data

Anonymity and Confidential Giving

Mission to Live Foundation respects the wishes of donors who choose to give anonymously or confidentially. If you wish your gift to remain anonymous:

  • Please indicate your preference in writing at the time of your donation; by contacting us at [email protected]; or by noting it on your check or DAF grant letter.
  • We will honor your request in all public acknowledgments, donor lists, annual reports, and website recognition.
  • We may be required by law to disclose donor information to the IRS or other government agencies regardless of an anonymity request; this disclosure is limited to what is legally required and does not affect public recognition.

Gifts made through Donor-Advised Funds that arrive without identifying information will be treated as anonymous unless the recommending donor separately notifies us of their identity.

Donor Recognition

Mission to Live Foundation is proud to recognize the generosity of our supporters. Unless you request anonymity, we may acknowledge your gift through:

  • Written acknowledgment letters and tax receipts
  • Our website donor recognition pages
  • Annual reports and publications
  • Event programs and materials
  • Social media posts (with your prior consent for named recognition)

How We Protect Your Information

We take the security of donor information seriously. Mission to Live Foundation employs the following safeguards:

  • PCI-DSS compliant payment processing — we do not store payment card data on our systems
  • Password-protected donor database with access restricted to authorized staff

Organizational Safeguards

  • Access to donor records is limited to staff and board members with a legitimate need
  • Staff and volunteers are trained on donor confidentiality obligations

Your Rights as a Donor

Mission to Live Foundation respects and honors the following donor rights, consistent with the Donor Bill of Rights published by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP):

  • The right to be informed of the identities of those serving on the governing board
  • The right to have access to Mission to Live Foundation's most recent financial statements
  • The right to be assured your gift will be used for the purposes for which it was given
  • The right to receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition for your gift
  • The right to be assured that information about your donation is handled with respect and confidentiality
  • The right to expect that all relationships with individuals representing Mission to Live Foundation will be professional in nature
  • The right to have the opportunity to have your name deleted from mailing lists
  • The right to feel free to ask questions when making a donation, and to receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers

Specific Rights Under California Law

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected about you
  • Know whether your personal information is sold or disclosed and to whom
  • Opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information)
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

All third-party providers are contractually prohibited from using donor information for any purpose other than the specific service they provide to Mission to Live Foundation. We do not authorize any service provider to sell, share, or retain your information beyond what is necessary to provide their services to us.

Mission to Live Foundation does not control the privacy practices of third-party websites linked from our website. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

Planned Giving and Estate Gifts

Donors who notify Mission to Live Foundation of a planned gift, bequest, or estate commitment can expect the following:

  • All information shared regarding planned gifts will be treated with the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • We will not publicly acknowledge a planned gift commitment without the donor's explicit written permission.
  • Planned giving discussions and documents are restricted to authorized staff and board leadership on a strict need-to-know basis.

Updates to This Policy

Mission to Live Foundation may update this Donor Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or organizational structure. When we make material changes, we will:
