Organization Summary
Mission to Live Foundation (M2L) has been in existence since 2024 and is a rapidly growing 501(c)(3)-designated non-profit organization. Founded by Dr. Martin Polanco, a pioneer in the psychedelic space for over 25 years, M2L is led by CEO Jay Kopelman, a retired Marine Corps lieutenant colonel, with more than 20 years of service to our country and community.
Through fundraising, we support the brave individuals who served and sacrificed so much for others. We provide access to healing through evidence-based therapies that restore mental health, resilience, and overall well-being. Our scholarships empower veterans challenged by trauma, neurological challenges, PTSD, and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) to regain control of their lives.

Position Summary
Mission to Live Foundation is seeking an entrepreneurial, self-directed team player committed to Mission to Live Foundation’s mission. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Development (DD), will play a critical role in providing leadership and direction for all fundraising activities for Mission to Live Foundation.
The DD will be responsible for executing and growing the organization’s fundraising efforts; managing volunteers and staff working on development projects; stewarding donor relationships; ensuring grant submission deadlines and reporting requirements are met; and working cross-functionally throughout the organization to identify opportunities for financial support of the organization’s mission and work.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and oversight of comprehensive development strategies and revenue streams. Includes creating and executing strategic key performance indicators within all major giving initiatives.
- Establish a base of diversified funding streams to attract and retain donors and fundraising volunteers
- Manage and strengthen donor acknowledgement processes and CRM management, including recordkeeping, gift acknowledgments, legacy gifts, and direct mail
- Identify, cultivate, and steward donors and prospects, developing engagement strategies to solicit and close gifts
- Manage and update CRM database using Salesforce
- Partner with the social media team to develop and implement a dynamic and strategic communications plan to elevate M2L’s brand identity, broadening awareness and increasing visibility
- Partner with finance team to ensure donor and financial records are maintained and in accordance with general accounting and fundraising standards
- Help to recruit, train, and motivate fundraising volunteers
- Local and out-of-town travel required at times (~25%-45%)
- Night and weekend availability required when needed

Fundraising
5+ years of experience in Fundraising/Nonprofit Development role with managerial experience plus a minimum of 3-5 years (direct or equivalent) experience managing high level donor relationships with demonstrated success in closing gifts of $25,000 and above.
Communication
Must possess great verbal/written communication skills and feel comfortable with public speaking.
Educational Background
Undergraduate degree required;
Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ leadership and/or supervisory experience
- Experience with, and working knowledge of, capital campaign development, execution and management
- Must be self-directed, have initiative and strong organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite, as well as other commonly used business technology tools
- Experience with reporting on restricted and unrestricted philanthropic gifts
- Working knowledge of maintaining constituent records and donor management in CRMS database
- A genuine commitment to the mission, vision, and values of M2L
- Experience with military-connected nonprofits preferred
Physical Requirements
- This position will be required daily to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday; and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices
- Ability to travel by air or automobile up to 40% of the time
- Ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 25 pounds
