Brian Martin is an Army veteran who served honorably for more than a decade on active duty. Through his military service, Brian conducted multiple deployments in support of Department of Defense directives. Following his active-duty career, he continued serving overseas as a contractor, spending 24 months in Iraq conducting high-threat security operations and 18 months in Afghanistan integrating technology for the U.S. Army.
Despite a career built on discipline, leadership, and resilience, Brian privately battled the invisible wounds carried by many veterans. Nearly four years ago, he came to terms with the reality that he was a functioning alcoholic and began to lean heavy on substances to feel normal and was standing on the verge of losing everything—his family, his purpose, and ultimately his life. Struggling with the effects of post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, hypervigilance, and the constant fight-or-flight mindset that so many combat veterans endure, Brian found himself searching for hope in one of the darkest seasons of his life.
That hope began to emerge through organizations like The Mission Within and All Secure Foundation, which became instrumental in his healing journey. Through those programs, Brian was introduced to transformative therapies that became a catalyst for recovery, personal restoration, and spiritual awakening. It was during this process that Brian fully embraced his faith and encountered his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in a profound and life-changing way.
In 2019, Brian met the woman who would become his wife, and he credits her as one of the greatest blessings in his life. She introduced him to his faith and remained unwavering through the many hardships that came with loving and supporting a veteran carrying deep emotional and psychological scars. Through every trigger, setback, and difficult season, she stayed steadfast, loyal, and committed to his well-being. Brian openly shares that without her love, strength, and faithfulness, he would not be here today.
Today, Brian uses his story to inspire others by speaking openly about service, trauma, addiction, recovery, faith, and redemption. Above all else, he is a proud husband, brother and father of two children who continue to motivate him to live with purpose, integrity, and faith every day.
